PERSONAL PROJECT- A.A.U. - ARMORED ASSAULT UNIT
The A.A.U - Armored Assault Unit was developed in 2015 for an ongoing project called "Green", from the great award winning director Edson Oda.
This project is going to be a short film and, possibly, a feature film in the future. It's a very audacious project, with a great idea and story telling.
I begun modeling this way before they give me the concept, and in the end it went way way different from it. The drawings were more like a Metal Gear robot, and I took the "Ed 209" approach. The director liked it, and we decided to move on.
This character is one of other lots of stuff I made for this project.
In the first half of 2016 I had to jump out. It was taking too much time to accomplish the next steps because of my main work at Vetor Zero, and by that time I was working alone. The people involved were painstakingly waiting for my updates based on work I was doing on my spare time, so it was clear that I was disturbing more than helping.
I believe they're going well now, so I hope.
Below, the images.
The 3D model was made entirely in Autodesk Maya, with traditional polygonal modeling. It is also entirely sub-dividable (mainly composed by quad polys, no nonmanifold faces and fully loop-contained meshes).
The textures were made in Adobe Photoshop and Allegorithmic Substance Painter.
For rendering, the software used was Chaos Group's VRay for Maya 3.1.
Images were later composed in Adobe Photoshop.
If I would count the time I'd spend on this one, I would say it was 3 weeks.
